I have to confess, I don't watch this show. But when I learned Alex was in an episode I had to see it. So it was around to my trusty neighbour, who has them on DVD, to see it.
I thought Alex's portrayal of the serial killer with OCD was so different from the role's I've seen him in to date. He was distant, stand-offish and paranoid. But you saw the warmth the character had locked away whenever he was around the little blind boy, Stanley Wolcott [played by Jake Cherry].
I actually enjoyed watching him play such an intense role, and I find myself wondering if he was attracted to the role because of his own OCD... although I'm sure his isn't as extensive as Vincent's.
