This was the perfect opener for the show. Right from the off, from the very first scene, I knew I was going to like it. But little did I estimate just how much. As a Buffy/Angel fan, I was estatic to see James Marsters in it as the bad guy because he plays those roles so well. You could sense the kind of hard man McGarrett was going to be in that first scene with the Governor and his first meeting with Danny brought a smile to my face. I knew I was going to like this duo. Then McGarrett forces a partnership on him, and that was only going to lead to more banter. When I first saw the scene where McGarrett slid across the trunk of the car as another one slammed into it, my jaw hit the floor. I mean c'mon, I've seen plenty of people slide across bonnets for no good reason, but to see this... like I said, I was stunned. Further proof, if I needed it, that Danno and McGarrett were going to be my new favourite duo was when he tried to get him to apologise for getting him shot... McGarrett's response was priceless.
All in all the pilot was a sign of things to come. Something that made a statement that this series was going to be so unlike the original series and yet keep the integrity of it.
Hooked doesn't even begin to describe the obsession that has overcome me.
